ABOUT WENDY

CAUGHT GREEN-HANDED

A graduate of the Amos Tuck School of Business (1985) at Dartmouth College, Wendy Nadherny Fachon has worked in various strategic planning, manufacturing, marketing/sales, and product management positions.  More recently, she served as Marketing Manager for Brewster & Shuster Associates, an established Providence firm specializing in group health benefits and financial planning.  Through this rich experience Wendy evolved into her current role as a Health Economist and Storywalker program designer and facilitator, and she credits her real education to the school of Life.

Life can be a tough teacher, but also the most effective one.

Some of the hardest lessons in life come from challenging family situations. Maintaining a strong positive attitude helps. Over the past ten years, Wendy's extended family has been challenged by a series of events: two fatal accidents (9/11 being one), two disabling events, mental illness, and terminal illness. She is well aware of the emotional and financial stresses these situations pose to a family.

Wendy's greatest concern is obesity and its role in escalating health care costs.
There is a growing need to improve preventive care and education with regards to weight management, and this can be accomplished through the following activities:

          -  outdoor exercise
          -  exposure to fresh air, nature, and sunlight
          -  balanced whole nutrition
          -  sharing of friendship and laughter

These “free” prescriptions offer some of the best preventative and curative medicine.  Practiced as part of a daily regimen, these tips are Wendy’s simple secrets to getting over life’s many hurdles, while maintaining her emotional and physical health. Walking can take us from a state of distress to one of de-stress.

Wendy is certified to work
with afterschool youth by RIASPA/PASA and works daily with the Pawtucket School District supervising her own afterschool netwalking teams.  Wendy is available mornings to run toddler/caregiver sessions or to walk personally with individuals.  She is available early afternoon or evenings to facilitate mentor training for schools and other organizations interested in implementing her storywalking and netwalking programs in their communities.

Wendy also brings experience from the the health care and wellness fields.

On a more personal note, Wendy loves kids.  She met her husband Dean at Colgate University.  They began reading stories to their children every night, starting from when the children were babies until about age ten.  The two children are now thriving at East Greenwich High School.  Wendy revels in the laughter of children.  She enjoys their tremendous energy and knows how to bring out the best in them with her own inquisitive, imaginative, and magical spirit, which is demonstrated throughout the Netwalking website – http://www.netwalkri.com
